Richard was trying to imagine heavy artillery bombarding them to make them evaporate. What he was suppose to do was imagine them not there any more. By being passive or aggressive to them only justified there existence. But by imagining a blue sky instead, in your world they will be gone. Ever tried to get an abusive mate out of your life? The more you are cordial to him he stays; and the more you retaliate, the longer he stays. But if you bore him, he leaves. ( On a side note, the last thing is what they call a psychic vampire. Caring around the harm it did you in the past, only does you harm. Give it peace and move forward.
So as you leave the world and its constrains that you can not change from within the box, hold no resentment for it. For it will be your Marley chains that will keep you in the misery of the old world. You must give up your life to gain a new one.
