Abstract Description


* Discuss dates. (Can your visit be coordinated with another institution to split the cost in travel, local transportation, and sleeping arrangements)


* Discuss the audience and possible prerequisites. (Tell the speaker what you can about the audience and their background.)


* Discuss what else, beyond the lecture, is planned for the visit. (Coffee hour in the common room, dinner with faculty and/or students, etc.)


* Mention the special interests or expectations of the department (programs, mission, and expectations) and ask about the visitor's requests or suggestions. (Take advantage of the visitor's experience and expertise.)


* Discuss tentative travel plans, including local transportation and accommodations. (How will expenses be handled? Be explicit about money matters. Remember the host institution is responsible for travel expenses.)


* Ask what facilities or equipment the speaker will need.


* Ask to be sent a title, abstract, and prerequisites for the talk. (What else? )

 

Prerequisites

 

* The Host is expected to publicize the event, promotional material will be sent.

* After title, abstract, expenses, dates, times, location, travel, and prerequisites have been agreed upon, sent back and confirmed; we will send you a final contract to be reviewed and signed. The host has three weeks to make final payment before event. Travel, transportation, and accommodations fees and arrangements should be sent along with a deposit for half of final payment along with final contract.
